Dear Parents,

We have reached the end of Term 3 in our lovely new spacious School premises. This year seems to be just flying past! I would like to thank each and every one of you. Firstly, for choosing Bryanston Grade 0 & Foundation Phase school, and secondly for trusting us with your child’s education, and finally for all the support that you have given us as teachers. It has been so encouraging for me to witness how the children have grown as individuals.

I also want to thank every child for all the warmth, memories and learning that we have shared so far this term. You are all so special to us!!  We have received numerous compliments from the outside Extramural coaches about how well adjusted, happy and responsive the children are at BOFS. This makes us SO happy and proud of our wonderful learners!! 😊

My message to parents at the end of Term 3 helps us all to reflect on the wonderful things we have done, shared, seen, experienced and focus on what we should be thankful for. Working with you in evolving our school further is a key ambition of mine and to support that, your input on the aspects that you like and the ones that you feel we could do better on is a valuable tool.

I would like to say a BIG thank you once again to all the teaching staff who have continued to work exceptionally hard to ensure that the learners are suitably taught, stimulated academically and loved to make them benefit from their input. To Wendy our Administrator, I appreciate you keeping the ship afloat!

First, frequency and consistency are key. We’ve learned that in our most engaged classrooms teachers and parents make an effort to communicate often, with both sides feeling encouraged and comfortable with initiating the exchange. In this environment, teachers’ recommendations are valued and applied at home, while parents, in turn, are present and contributing at school.

Please note that we are not giving the children or expecting them to complete work during the school holiday. We have put some fun holiday activities in the Newsletter for the children to do, should they want to.  We would encourage all of our children to use the time during the short school holiday to have fun, rest and recharge in preparation for the fourth term.

I hope that you have all enjoyed receiving the regular newsletters which do reflect the school in such a glorious way. Please do take note of all the diarised dates on the calendar in the Newsletter. We have lots of activities and events planned for TERM 4.

In Term 4 we will be experiencing our glorious summer season in Johannesburg. Please apply sunblock in the morning, send a school hat, a spare mask and a raincoat for the unexpected summer thunderstorm. If there is rain, we will do the Covid screening under the protective cover outside the office entrance.

Please do remember to contact us if you need any support.

In the meantime, I send my very best wishes to you and your families for a sunny, safe, happy and restful school holiday break.

Kind Regards,

Cheryl de Melo.

Term 4 begins Monday 11th October

Term 4 begins on Monday the 11th of October.

School Times

PLEASE note as per school rules all times must be strictly adhered to for the smooth operation of the school. All children must be at school by 7h50 in the morning. The academic day finishes at 13h00 for the Grade 0’s and at 13h30 on a Monday and Wednesday for Foundation Phase learners. The Educators use this time for preparation for the following day and are thus not available to supervise the “late” children. When Aftercare starts all the children enrolled in Aftercare are brought into the Aftercare room for lunch. It is awkward and unfair for the children not enrolled to be excluded. Please adhere to all school times. Thank you.

Bike Day

Please note our bike days are as follows:

Yellow – Tuesday

Red- Wednesday

Orange – Thursday

Hats and Sunblock

Summer is definitely here! Please send your child’s hat and apply sunblock daily. Thank you.

New Extra-Mural

We are so excited to introduce our new extramural at BOFS. Kids Development won’t only teach your child about the human body, being fit and healthy, but also benefit and improve their ability to achieve certain skills in the classroom, concentration as well as discipline.
