Dear BOFS Parents,
Another Friday has arrived SO soon!! The time just seems to fly by when one is busy and having fun! We are certainly having loads of fun at school and a testament to this is that the children are all so happy and often even reluctant to go home at the end of the day!! It is a scientifically proven fact that happy children learn better. Happiness and positive emotions create dopamine and serotonin. When these substances are released into the brain it has positive effects on our memory as well as our brain’s ability to learn.
As you are probably aware, we have an open-door policy and like to encourage daily communication and contact with the parents. This is the reason that we changed the screening entrance so that we could say good morning and have a chat with the parents with all covid protocols still in place.
We call the parents, grandparents and children, our community the “BOFS Family” because we want our school family to be an extension of your family. We want to serve you in times of joy, happiness and triumph, but also in times of challenge, grief and struggle. Our commitment will never change and that is to serve our learners, families and community with care, compassion and dedication. Academic learning and growth are our bottom line, yet we also understand that educating children means being attentive to the “whole child” and caring about their social and emotional well-being.
Our teachers and staff love the young Foundation stage learners and are enjoying being a part of their learning and growth during these crucial years of development. We enjoy having parents in our school and contributing to our positive school culture. Just this morning I grabbed a willing Dad to repair the loose chain on a bicycle. The community is a big part of who we are and we want you to help us tell our story. Let us know how we can help make your experience even better!
Our website is also a valuable source of information. Every message that we send out to families can be found on our website, along with our newsletters and other important information and photos. Thank you for all the positive feedback from the parents on the Instagram and Facebook posts.
We look forward to welcoming three Student Teachers Jamie le Roux, Megan Hendrikz and Jasmin Kelleher next week for a Teaching practice of 3 weeks in the school.
Have a wonderful weekend and keep warm!
Yours in Education
Cheryl de Melo.
