Dear Bryanston Grade 0 & Foundation Phase Parents,

I have been overwhelmingly impressed with the enthusiasm and organisation that the children have portrayed over the recent weeks at school. It is so rewarding to observe the positive and pleasing progress and maturation of the children socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Well done to all the parents for being such supportive and caring parents, we can clearly see that your precious children are being nurtured and cared for in all respects. I would also like to thank all the parents for their positivity, co-operation and praise towards the school and our staff. We have certainly loved getting to know you better and having daily chats and contact with you all. Having fabulous parents has made our new school premises and the beautiful spacious environment for the Educators and support staff their happy place. 😊

Schools play a crucial role in developing the skills young children need to cope and flourish in today’s uncertain and ever-changing world. While the scope of our educational program is a huge benefit to our young learners, at BOFS we always bear in mind that children need time to create their games, adventures, and learning as they play. Through this, they benefit emotionally and socially as well. Socially we have seen a huge advance in their progress and development and their ability to handle any difficulties or disagreements sensibly.

We are trying hard to promote a caring environment where all the children are encouraged to look out for each other and creating an awareness where everyone knows that kindness and consideration towards others are vital. The outcome of this is that our BOFS learners are becoming more confident and eager to try new things.

“A good education promotes health and happiness, not just good grades.”

We have finally with a sense of relief got clarity and have confirmation that school will be closed for school holidays for one week from the 4th – 8th of October. We don’t issue reports in Term 3. Your child’s Educator will be contacting some of the parents for a brief update which will take place on Tuesday 28th Sept on how to provide further guidance and support for the learners who require it. However, if you wish to discuss any concerns with your child’s Educator you are welcome to approach them as we have an open-door policy. Please also feel free to contact me or the Educator with any queries relating to your child or the school, however, big or small.

Have a restful weekend.

Kind Regards,

Cheryl de Melo.

Grades 1-3 Applications – We are Expanding

We are expanding and offering Grades 1 – 3 next year, providing an individualised approach. We are an independent school registered with the GDE. We follow the GDE calendar. Please contact us at admin@bryanstongrade0.co.za if you are interested and would like to enrol for 2022. These Grades will have small classes with personalised attention from our qualified educators.

School Uniforms

PLEASE can you check at home if your child has taken home uniform items that don’t belong to them. PLEASE mark ALL items of uniform so that we are able to return them to your child. We will put a Lost Property box at the screening gate with odd socks, vests etc of items that have been left at school.

Toys

No toys at school, please! Toys brought to school get lost or broken. Thank you.

Numeracy Curriculum

Thank you to the parents that have sent used containers for our imaginative play shop-shop area. Please continue to send items eg: 2 L milk containers, cereal boxes, tins, plastic sta soft, dishwashing bottles, etc. The children are thoroughly enjoying the “shopping” experience.

New Extra-mural

We are so excited to introduce our new extramural at BOFS. Kids Development won’t only teach your child about the human body, being fit and healthy, but also benefit and improve their ability to achieve certain skills in the classroom, concentration as well as discipline. Please contact your child’s class teacher if you are interested in taking part in the extra-mural. Enrolment forms will be available next week.

On behalf of everyone at BOFS, we would like to wish our phenomenal Principal & Superwoman, Cheryl de Melo, a very Happy Birthday for tomorrow, the 11th of September. We hope you have a special day filled with love and spoils. Thank you for your dedication, love and commitment to BOFS! Have a FANTASTIC day!!
