Dear BOFS Parents,
The school environment continues to be my happy place. 😊 The children are always so uplifting as they have so many wonderful naïve traits. It’s these traits that draw us to them. They make us laugh with their purity and innocence. It is this that makes working with children so special.
I would like to share a few of the things that the children said this past week that were superb.
“Miss K PLEASE can you help me today? I am having LOTS of problems this morning. “
“What’s wrong my boy? “
“My school bag strap is twisted; my tennis racquet is breaking and I am tired! “
2. At home LIAM told his mother that it was raining stones when there was hail!
3. And the last one that really warmed my heart was that I got a marriage proposal from MLUNGISI:
“Mrs de Melo I really LOVE you SO much!! I am going to ask my mommy if I can marry you when I am big! “
The long-awaited school concert is now just around the corner.
The children and teachers are all very excited about the concert and have all been practising with so much enthusiasm, especially on the children’s part. I am sure you have been privy to some of the movements or songs which the children will be performing by their enthusiastic demonstration to you at home. We were originally planning to have the concert on one night, but because we need to maintain social distancing at all times, we have decided that the concert will be on two nights so that all the parents, grandparents and siblings can also come to see their talented superstars perform. All the children need to be here on both nights, even if they don’t have a family friend or member watching. Most of the performance is in groups and the children get confused if some of the learners are missing. The concert takes place in the early evening. The original date, Wednesday 1st December will remain and all the children will also participate on Tuesday 30th November. The concert will start at 18h30. All the children will need to be at school by 18h00 dressed in the concert costumes which will be supplied by the school. The children must bring a bag/ packet with a change of clothes for after the concert. All concert costumes are to be left at school and will be given back to the children on the following day for the 2nd concert performance. The Educators will send letters to the parents with all the details, some of which are specific to the particular groups. Please can you make sure that you adhere to all the Educator’s requests?
The concert will begin at 18h30 and should be finished by 20h15. All parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends to be seated by 18h25, please.
The concert tickets will go on sale at the school office on Wednesday 24th November from 7h00 till 8h00 and between 13h00 till 13h30. The times for the ticket sales will be open until they are sold out. The price of the Ticket is R50 per person. You will be able to purchase 5 tickets per family for a specific row. To adhere to covid19 protocols all family members will be seated together. There will then be a regulated space where the next family will be seated. There will be two young ladies assisting the school staff who will be directing parents to the correct, booked seats. Tickets will be for sale on a cash-only basis. (No credit cards or EFT’s please) The income received from the tickets will be used to pay for the hiring of the stage, concert costumes and refreshments for the parents.
All children will need to be signed out by their class Educator, who will have the class list with her after the concert nights.
Bryanston Grade 0 and Foundation Phase School and the parents have supported Ebenezer Day Care (Hammanskraal) for many years in the past. This establishment takes care of less fortunate children. Please could you assist by donating a soccer ball or colouring-in book and Jumbo wax Crayons as a gift to make their Christmas special? Please send these gifts unwrapped in a packet by the 29th of November at the latest.
We are sure that the BOFS children will enjoy the benefit from the opportunity of giving to other children less fortunate than themselves. Thank you.
Please collect your child’s school report on the 8th of December from your child’s Educator. We are issuing them on this date because we are aware that many parents will be traveling away on holiday before the 15th of December.
As a school, we would like to support Hot 1027 Teddython, with HotCares.
Come and join BOFS as we support the FUNdraiser on Thursday, 25 November at Papachinos, Broadacres from 6 am to 6.30 pm and help HOT CARES to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.

Happy Birthday Wendy!
We would like to wish Wendy, our incredible administrator a very Happy Birthday for today! We hope you have a lovely day and an incredible year ahead. Thank you for everything that you do for BOFS!
General Helpers Collection
We have started a Christmas Collection for our wonderful General Helpers! Maria and Bridget.
Our staff live far away, and that is why we have decided to collect money for them instead of gifts and food. Should you wish to contribute towards our much-loved staff, please send cash in a marked envelope to Wendy in the office. Any contribution will be much appreciated. Thank you.
PLEASE note as per school rules all times must be strictly adhered to for the smooth operation of the school. All children must be at school by 7h50 in the morning. The academic day finishes at 13h00 for the Grade 0’s and at 13h30 on a Monday and Wednesday for Foundation Phase learners. The Educators use this time for preparation for the following day and are thus not available to supervise the “late” children. When Aftercare starts all the children enrolled in Aftercare are brought into the Aftercare room for lunch. It is awkward and unfair for the children not enrolled to be excluded. Please adhere to all school times. Thank you.
Hats, Water bottles and Sunblock
Summer is definitely here! Please send your child’s hat, water bottle and apply sunblock daily. Thank you. Please make sure everything is labeled.
